This will allow you to setup your default account with the same elevated privileges that XP did. The reason they changed the local admins is for security reasons. If you know what you're doing and take care of your own security, this will help Vista run more like XP.

This will (and links on it) will also help get you to a comfortably configured Vista system. One of the first things to look for here is how to disable UAC. Again, UAC is a security feature for the average person--to anyone reasonably comfortable with XP, this is a Vista pain in the ass.
